Edward J. Rubins papers, 1942-1950.

The collection consists, primarily, of correspondence between Rubins and his wife, Ruth, while he was employed by the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, New Haven, Connecticut (April 1942-July 1943) and she was an employee of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Also included is a manuscript copy, with notes to the typist, of his dissertation, Chemical and biological study of the residual phosphorus of heavily fertilized soils and two pieces of correspondence from Albert N. Jorgensen regarding Rubin's employment at UConn.

Edward J. Rubins was born 7 February 1915 in Tenafly, New Jersey. He received a B.S. and M.S. degrees in Agriculture from Rutgers University (1940, 1942) and his Ph.D. in 1948 from the University of Maryland. He was hired by the University of Connecticut in 1948 as an Assistant Professor of Agronomy and promoted to Associate Professor in 1953. From the description of Edward J. Rubins papers, 1942-1950.
